Meteorcomm is the communications supplier of choice for the BNSF ETMS wireless digital
packet communication between locomotives, waysides and dispatch. Meteorcomm radios
deliver digital track authorities, track database updates, consist information from
dispatch, and real-time wayside status to the locomotive.
Peer-to-peer communication provides real-time signal aspect, switch state and track
circuit status directly from the wayside to the locomotive. There is no intermediary
network standing between locomotive and wayside, which means fast delivery and greater
reliability are achieved.
Meteorcomm Radios work with Wabtec's onboard Train Management Computer (TMC) and
BNSF's dispatch software. All signals, hand throw switches and track circuits are
instrumented over 120 miles of track in Illinois.
Any dispatch and train control system can be interfaced to the Meteorcomm RF network
with the open and nonproprietary interface architecture. Meteorcomm can provide
customized solutions to fit customer requirements.
